By Angalie Welivita
Job interviews …. one of the most daunting experiences people go through. It sounds silly but it is true. Being put on the spot to answer questions about yourself. Express why you're the best candidate for the job and how you'll bring something unique to the workplace is sometimes uncomfortable for people to do.
Well you're in luck this post is dedicated to helping YOU figure out the best way to ace (give your very best) in a job interview.
Just apply the following to your game plan :
Just apply the following to your game plan :
1. Before you show up always research the company you're getting interviewed by as well as their competitors. This shows initiative and real interest in obtaining a position within the company.
2. Role play - Practice with a friend or family member, answering questions you may be asked in the interview. This can take a bit of pressure off your shoulders when you're in the actual interview.

3. Bring a copy of your resume and all other documents that may magnify your ability to handle the skills required for the job.
Generally the rule is smart casual - if no set attire has recommended. If a certain dress code has been established, make sure you dress to it.
Examples : if you're applying for a job within the fashion industry - make a statement, choose something that makes you stand out ( however not revealing). Make sure you have no body odour ( no one would appreciate that )
Ladies - make sure your make-up is natural , hair neat , nails clean and polished etc
Gentleman- make sure your hair is neat, clean shaved beard/ moustache etc
5. Posture and mannerisms
6. Be honest - do not lie to make yourself sound like a better candidate for the job. It will only cause trouble for you later down the track.
7. When responding to questions keep your responses short and concise. Do not hesitate in asking for questions to be re-phrased (we're all not geniuses)
8. Ask questions- if there is anything on your mind about the job, ask. ( refrain from asking money related questions- unless it is bought about in conversation by the interviewer)
9. The handshake - don't do the sloppy spaghetti handshake. You want to make the interviewer remember you, a handshake can say a lot about a person i.e. a persons confidence.
10. Always after the interview - send a thank you letter or phone call to the interviewer.
Always follow up; and if unfortunately you were unsuccessful in obtaining the position - you can ask where you may need to improve for future reference.
If you gave it your all don't dwell too much. It takes practice!
Just do the best you can and learn from your mistakes. Walk out of the interview room confident and happy, I mean you gave it your all (hopefully )
